ABOUT THE STUDIO
DESIGNED FOR CALM, WOVEN IN STORY
Linens sketched from nature and memory, inviting calm interiors layered with story.
“It dawned on me that stillness can be stitched into the everyday.”
DawnedUpon Calm Studio is a British home décor and lifestyle brand creating hand-drawn textiles and visual stories that weave together nature, memory, Caribbean heritage, and a sense of stillness. Each design is an invitation to slow down, notice the everyday, and celebrate your own story at home.
Founded by British designer and artist Dawn Gibson-Winder, the studio is shaped by the gentle rhythms of the natural world and by a thoughtful approach to design that honours both heritage and mindfulness.
The Studio launches with the Faded Canopy fabric collection: a small gathering of hand-drawn patterns inspired by riverbank walks in Surrey, seasonal stillness, and the softened textures of nature.
Featured in The English Home Magazine — People & Places (Feb 2026).
SKETCHING IN STILLNESS
With a specialist Degree in Design for Floorcoverings and Interior Textiles, Dawn began her career designing bespoke, hand-drawn carpets for luxury interiors.
Her creative path later wove through consulting, marketing and creative coaching before she quietly returned to drawing during a time of personal transformation.
“It was during a difficult chapter that I began sketching again after nearly twenty years. I started noticing what I would have once rushed past, and something in me softened.”
Alongside drawing, Dawn trained as a guided meditation facilitator, sharing her recordings on Insight Timer, where they have reached thousands of listeners. These moments of calm continue to shape her creative approach, gently influencing the pace and feeling of the studio’s work.
Those early ink sketches became the seed for DawnedUpon’s debut fabric collection — the beginning of a more grounded, soulful design practice rooted in nature, story, and stillness.
A STORY-LED STUDIO
Dawn’s creative process is shaped by personal history, nature, and a love of layered design.
In her twenties, she left home with one of her mum’s vintage suitcases, carefully filling it with old family photographs, handwritten letters, and small keepsakes.
Over the years, that suitcase has grown into a quiet archive, filled not only with family history but also with vintage finds and poetic fragments of a creative life.
It became the inspiration for My Curated Story: a visual series of photographic flatlays weaving together family mementoes, letters, botanical elements, vintage details, and scenes of stillness.
NOW & NEXT
Natural linen fabrics are currently available, with hand-drawn designs printed on 100% linen.
Guided by slow living, DawnedUpon Calm Studio follows a studio-led release approach. Our curated collections are shared in calm stages, shaped by story and designed to bring calm to the home.
In time, the studio will grow gently beyond fabric, developing a broader Home Décor collection that continues the story through wallpaper, made-to-order cushions, and considered pieces for calm interiors.
Every piece will stay true to the spirit of the studio: gentle, meaningful, and rooted in design that tells a story.
CLOSING NOTE
DawnedUpon Calm Studio grew from a personal practice of slowing down, being in nature, observing, and creating with intention.
Beyond design, Dawn shares her mindful approach to living and creating, exploring how calm, creativity, and home can support a more intentional life.
You can explore these practices through her Substack journal, 'It Dawned Upon Her', and her guided meditations on ‘Insight Timer’.
