FROM INK TO INTERIORS
This is where I share the stories behind DawnedUpon Calm Studio — reflections on design, process, and the quiet details that inspire each collection.
This Studio Preview marks the quiet beginning of something I have been working on slowly, over many months: a first glimpse of the Faded Canopy Collection.
It is both a launch and a return — a return to drawing after many years, and a return to the creative roots that have always been part of who I am.
The journey began with a sketchbook. During a time of change, I picked up my pens again and found myself sketching leaves, seeds, and small fragments of the natural world. These drawings, made in stillness, became patterns. These patterns found their way onto natural linen. And slowly, a collection began to take shape.
Faded Canopy reflects the things I notice most in quiet moments: the softened edges of a riverbank walk, the calm rhythm of seasons, and the way memory lingers in textures. These ideas are also shaped by heritage — the stories, objects, and fragments of my Caribbean family history that remind me how design can carry memory as well as beauty.
Each fabric is drawn by hand, then carefully printed in the UK, designed to layer gently into interiors and invite story into the home.
This Preview is only the beginning. Over the coming months, I’ll share more about the designs, the inspiration behind them, and the ways they can be used in calm, layered spaces. For now, I invite you to take a first look, request a sample, and follow along as the story unfolds.
NOTES ON HOME STYLING
Beginning a new season or project often starts with one small detail — a sketch, a swatch, a fragment that sparks inspiration. The same applies in interiors: layering meaning into a space can begin with just one thoughtful choice.
